Army veteran Nathan Gamble managed to win his first WSOP bracelet after taking down the 2017 WSOP $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo. The poker player emerged at the first place of the ranking, defeating a total players field of 830 entries and making a great impression at the final table, which ended up with him winning the event’s title, his first gold bracelet as well as a guaranteed prize pool portion estimated at $223,339.
In addition, Nathan Gamble entered a last longer bet with five other players on the first day of the tournament, so by winning the event, he also won that bet, too. In fact, Gamble himself confessed that the game was one of his best ones ever, so he decided to enter in the last longer bet with five other players, three of whom were WSOP bracelet winners.
The 27-year-old US poker player explained that Pot-limit Omaha and Pot-Limit Omaha eight-or-better were two of his favourite poker variations, especially considering the fact that he has been playing them since a very young age. He also shared that he was extremely confident as long as his performance in the tournament was concerned, since he had three World Series of Poker cashes out of four Omaha tournaments to date.
So, Nathan Gamble managed to top a final table featuring two successful poker pros, including Ray Henson and Marco Johnson. Despite the fact that Gamble does not have an extensive tournament resume, having won only a total of $362,667 in live tournaments, with his winning bringing him his best live cash amounting to $223,339, Gamble has managed to defeat his opponents and took down the event.
There were only 21 players who returned for the final day of the event, with a number of poker professionals still in the game. Barry Greenstein who is a three-time bracelet winner, as well as Jason Gooch and Kevin Saul were among the poker pros who got to the final day of the 2017 WSOP $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo. However, Nathan Gamble was the one who dominated over the entire Day 3 of the event, after starting near the bottom line of the chip counts and succeeding to boost his stack over the day.
Gamble took over as a chip leader during the first few levels of the final day and kept it until the very end, with his chip lead being 10-to-1 over the heads-up play against Adam Hendrix.
With Nathan Gamble, winning the first place in the 2017 WSOP $1,500 Pot-Limit Omaha Hi-Lo and taking home his first gold bracelet as well as a cash portion of $223,339, Adam Hendrix remained on the second position. He received a total of $137,992 for his efforts. The third place was occupied by Ray Henson who got a monetary prize of $96,555.
Michael Gross was fourth, followed by Marco Johnson at the fifth place. Miguel Use was sixth, while Fernando Macia remained seventh. The eighth and ninth positions in the final table ranking were occupied by Millard Hale and Wendy Weissman, respectively.
